5. Luigi’s Mansion 3

Coming to Nintendo Switch’s later this year, Luigi’s Mansion 3 is the third installment in the Luigi’s Mansion series. The previous game released in the series, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, was released back in 2013. Fans have been on the edge of their seats waiting for the next installment for five years! 4. New Pokémon Game

The latest installment in the Pokémon franchise is so new, it doesn’t even have an official name yet! Here’s what we know so far. It’s scheduled to release late 2019, meaning it’ll be on many gamer’s Christmas and Hanukkah lists this year. New Pokémon will be introduced. The new Pokémon game will only be available on the Nintendo Switch. It will be a “completely different game,” said by Tsunekazu Ishihara, the CEO of the Pokémon Company. What does that mean? We don’t know! But we cannot wait to find out. Let another journey with Pikachu begin!

3. Kingdom Hearts III

2. The Last of Us: Part II

The Last of Us is an immensely popular zombie franchise. The story revolves around Ellie, a self-sufficient, mute young woman, as she tries to survive post-apocalyptic America. Encountering love, loss, and cults along the way, Ellie’s journey is not to be missed. The Last of Us: Part II will only be available on the PlayStation 4. The 5 Most Timeless Video Games of All Time

Popular video games come and go, but there are some games that stay in our hearts longer than others. Whether it’s a complex multiplayer adventure or a simple arcade game, some video games are constantly being adapted to newer consoles, proving that they’re going to be enjoyed for generations to come. So what games really are timeless classics? We’ve compiled a list of the top five timeless video games of all time for you to enjoy with your friends at home or during your next GameTruck party!

#5: The Legend of Zelda

The Legend of Zelda truly is a legendary game. In fact, it has spawned numerous memorable, enjoyable, timeless games. What we like about the Zelda series is that, no matter what new game or edition they released, the roots of the game have always stayed consistent with the others, making its players sure that they were going to be getting a great game every time. Though the first Legend of Zelda game was released years ago during the NES era, it remains a must-play for every gamer today.

#4: PAC-MAN

Starting out as a simple arcade game, the creators of PAC-MAN had no idea that it would turn into the gaming sensation that it is today. We all know him, we all love him… the iconic yellow ball of a character has stayed with us through generations of video games. Spin-offs have even come and gone (here’s looking at you, Pac Man: Adventures in Time) Even all of these years later, gamers young and old enjoy this timeless, revolutionary sensation.

#3: Super Mario Brothers

This game started out as a simple platform game, the type that has been around since ancient gaming times and is still created today. Though the series has come far from the original format, the classic feel of the game still holds up today. Nintendo has since opened up the Mario world to unbelievable levels and has released classics like Mario Kart 8, Super Mario Odyssey, and more. The level that some Mario Stan‘s will take their love for the series to is next level!

#2: Street Fighter

The Street Fighter series is credited with bringing along many of the conventions that 1-on-1 fighting games follow. A staple of gaming in the late ’80s and early ’90s, it’s still nearly impossible to visit any arcade and NOT cross paths with Street Fighter! Traveling around the world and taking on new opponents in martial arts fights… Street Fighter pits you against friends and makes you really show your skills. Seasoned players still feel the defeat of hearing “You did quite well, but you need more training to defeat me!” as they solemnly walk away from the game… defeated yet eager to return.

#1: Tetris

The moment you have all been waiting for, the final reveal of which video game would make number one on this list is here. You may be confused as to how Tetris made this list, so let’s explain:

When most non-gamers think about video games, they think that video games all mean blood and guts – but that’s not the case! Not every game has to have a huge, elaborate backstory, be riddled with side quests and big bosses, or be one of many games in a huge series. Tetris stands for the fundamentals of video games and we love it for its simplicity. While it might not be as exciting as some of the other games on or off this list, I think we can all agree that it’s timeless. This is a game that our children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and more are going to be playing.

Best Selling Video Games of the Last Decade

As the years have gone by, we’ve had the joy of witnessing the video game industry evolve and grow into the huge platform it is today. While there will always be some debate and subjective opinions on what the golden era of video gaming history was, sales numbers don’t lie. That’s why GameTruck San Jose has compiled a list of the best-selling video games of the last decade. Do you think your favorite will make the list? Let’s find out!

#5 The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Date Released: November 2011
Units Sold: 30 million

Perhaps the reason for this game is so popular is because it was released on so many platforms – in fact, there’s a running joke in the gamer community that the makers of the game will just continue releasing it on new platforms instead of ever creating a sequel.

Regardless of how it made so many sales, this exciting game has reached an impressive 30 million units sold since its release just over seven years ago in 2011.

#4 Diablo 3

Date Released: May 2012
Units Sold: 30 million

Though it ties in sales with The Elder Scrolls, Diablo 3 was released six months after, meaning it reached higher sales in less time, what a feat! While Diablo 3 didn’t have the smoothest launch, it did manage to recover from its shaky start. After its rough start, developers called out to its unhappy players to see what they could do to improve the game. 30 million copies sold later, applying the constructive criticism certainly worked.

#3 Overwatch

Date Released: May 2016
Units: 35 million

Not only did Overwatch manage to sell over five million copies more than the previous two entries on this list, but it also managed to do so in a fraction of the time! Released only a few years ago, this sensational game is available on multiple platforms. Pick your favorite console and find out what all the buzz is about! Choose your character wisely though… I’m already Tracer.

#2 Grand Theft Auto V

Release Date: September 2013
Units Sold: 90 million

Perhaps one of the most iconic video game series of all time, it’s no wonder how Grand Theft Auto V managed to sell 90 million copies in five and a half years. The game is available on multiple platforms, and even has an online multi-player version which has certainly helped to keep its popularity alive.

#1 Minecraft

Release Date: November 2011
Units Sold: 144 million

It’s amazing how popular a game that is essentially playing with legos virtually can become, but Minecraft did it. With over 144 million copies sold since its release in 2011, Minecraft has become so iconic that even non-gamers have heard of it! On the flip side, it’s amazing to see the incredible creations that the truly dedicated have managed to create.

Minecraft’s simple premise and broad appeal is the reason it has become the top-selling video game of the last decade.
