Here’s What You Can Expect from Sea of Thieves!

From what we can tell, this game is like a kids version of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag which is a great game full of fun and adventure. This journey takes place on your very own ship. Your goal is to travel the vast ocean and explore islands. This game is perfect for a gamer birthday party with its multiplayer style so everyone can play. Good thing too because when playing Sea of Thieves, you never know who or what you may run into while living your life as a pirate!

You’re equipped with a map, compass, shovel, lantern, and more to take on the challenges to come. Be careful, you may experience some stormy seas, and you may find some resistance when trying to recover treasure. You can let your teammates protect you while you have your hands full with treasure, or drop the treasure and protect your teammates as you try to escape and make your way back to your ship!

Since We’re Pirates, Let’s Find Some Treasure!

Remember to look underwater for shipwrecks and other surprises! You may even find sunken treasure, but be careful, the journey back to your ship may be perilous and full of obstacles! You may have to fight off looters and sharks! This game has great music so you can enjoy some seachanties as you sail and fend off attacks.

Want to explore caverns? You’re in luck! Some islands may lead you down caverns, but don’t be scared, you have your light and some friends with you. Make sure you check out the awesome detail the game developers put into these caverns. From skeletons to drawings, you may find some cool surprises!

Looking for some challenge?

Sea of Thieves found some for you. This game features riddles to find treasure. If you aren’t good with riddles, there is nothing to worry about. This game makes riddles fairly easy to decipher and with help from your teammates, you’re on your way to new adventures across the sea!

This game isn’t all about sailing; it’s also about staying alive as the bones of raiders past crawl up from the ground to stop you. Luckily, you’re equipped with an old-fashioned pistol and sword to defend yourself.

Think Your Adventure Ends There?

Think again! While you’re exploring new islands in search of treasure, you may want to take your whole crew with you, or leave a member or two behind to ensure the ship is safe and ready to disembark at a moment’s notice. Now that you have your treasure, you have to sell it. No big deal right? Tell that to your crew as you try to navigate your way through storms and protect your treasure from other looters!

From Board Games to Video Games

We did as well! We decided to play and compare two classic board games. First, we played Apples to Apples the board game, then the video game. We wanted the traditional feel to distinguish the difference between the two mediums. The second set we tried was Battleship. Like Apples to Apples, We played Battleship the board game first, followed by the video game.

Apples to Apples- Board Game

This board game is for 4-10 players and takes less than 30 minutes to play. Inside the box are the red cards, green cards, and the rule sheet. These rules aren’t very complicated which makes this game a lot of fun to play. To start the game, give each player seven red cards. When each player has seven cards, you will need to choose someone to start being the judge. This judge will change from round to round so everyone will get a turn.

You can now start the game by flipping over the first green card. Each player will place a red card, anonymously, except for the judge. The goal is to have your red card get picked by the judge so you can tailor which cards you play to the personality of the judge.

This game is fun to play and usually ends with a ton of laughs. Whoever wins the green card, will then be the judge. This game continues until one player earns the agreed upon limit of green cards.

Apples to Apples- Video Game

In the video game, it starts by giving you a tutorial on how to play and use the controller. Similar to the board game, you choose which red card is most like the green card, and if the judge selects the same one, you win!

You are given 32 seconds for each level and your time limit rolls over from round to round. It may not seem like enough time but don’t worry; you can gain extra time by winning. On the other hand, if the judge does not pick your card and you lose, time will be deducted from your already depleting time limit

Battleship- Board Game

In this board game, players get to place their ships on a grid-like ocean. These ship pieces are small so be careful not to lose them! Place your opponent in front of you so they cannot see your laptop like battle station. After placing your ships, you can start the game.

Call out where you want your ship to fire by saying positions like “D6” or “A4”, and if your opponent has a boat there, they must tell you that you’ve hit their ship and put a placeholder of where the vessel was hit. This game can be very frustrating but is a ton of fun!

Battleship- Video Game

They added awesome features to the video game that the board game did not. You can play online with other people, so you never have to worry about finding someone to play with you. First thing first, place where you want your ships located.

After placing your ships, you can start to fire upon the enemy ships, one square at a time. This game has some simple, but pretty cool graphics. Keep in mind; each fleet does something different, so strategy is a big part of this game.

The Top 3 Video Game Soundtracks of 2017

At GameTruck we wanted to find the best video game soundtracks, and it was surprisingly difficult! We had a hard time because we’ve played hundreds of games and hosted hundreds of game truck mobile video game parties in Jacksonville making it hard to choose a favorite. After many hours of listening to track after track to narrow down our list, we got together to vote. Finally, we are excited to announce we found our top three favorite video game soundtracks of 2017!

A Game Truck Favorite: Sonic Mania

We had a great time playing this game! This game combines classic background gameplay music with new and exciting fast-paced music. We loved that they kept some of the original Sonic the Hedgehog songs and remixed them to make them even better for the video game soundtrack! Nothing can beat an upgraded classic.

You can find this game at GameStop, Amazon, or at Walmart. Sonic Mania is available for Xbox One, PS4, PC, and the Nintendo Switch. If you want to listen to these tunes before you decide to buy the game, you can find them on YouTube.

Next, We Enjoyed The Yooka-Laylee Soundtrack

This game comes from the creators of the classic game Banjo. This game concept was presented on Kickstarter and raised more than twelve and half times their goal. After its long anticipation, it’s finally here. You can find this game on Amazon, Best Buy, or Toys R Us. Yooka-Laylee is available for Xbox One, PS4, PC, and the Nintendo Switch.

Finally, We Agreed That Nier: Automata Should Be In The Top Three

This game involves androids and a lot of moving parts. You will find yourself joining the resistance of androids that are trying to take back earth from machine lifeforms. Sounds amazing, right?  We won’t tell you anything more as we don’t want to spoil the game for you. When you’re ready to buy Nier: Automata, you can find it Best Buy, eBay, GameStop, and Walmart. Nier: Automata is available for PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows.
