Hudson — Folks looking for a few extra seats for a game night party or schools searching for video options for student lessons need look no further than the GameTruck.

The GameTruck, operated locally by Hudsonite Scott Beskid, opened for business in April.

The truck is a 33-foot long portable trailer which contains six 3-D TVs and a variety of game systems. It can be rented for private birthday parties and larger events, Beskid said.

The truck can accommodate 24 game players inside and another four outside. For larger groups, 70 to 80 people can be moved through the truck per hour.

“The GameTruck is a patented mobile video game center,” Beskid said. “It travels to locations to provide people with the ultimate video game experience.”

The trailer also contains two concession windows, one of which can accommodate an extra video screen, weather permitting, Beskid said. The other window can be used by parents to look in on the game-playing action.

“The cool thing about the truck is that it is self-contained and climate controlled,” Beskid said. “It is a video gamers paradise.”

But the truck is not just for fun and games, Beskid said, it has an educational aspect, too.

“Video games can be a platform to educate kids,” he said.

The truck has a variety of video games based on education, including games based on physics experiments and becoming an astronaut, Beskid said. Video games also teach teamwork and socialization skills, he added.

Beskid, formerly a social worker, has lived in Hudson for about two years, he said. For the last eight years he has been a “stay-at-home dad.”

This is Beskid’s first foray into business. He said he wanted to do something that still allowed him to be home with the kids after school.

The truck is available for parties “anytime and any day,” Beskid said.
