How To Throw The Best Fourth of July Party
The Fourth of July is just around the corner, and it’s time to start planning the festivities!
While adults and kids alike are looking forward to backyard barbeques, fireworks, and spending time by the pool, the host of the party is usually met with one question – how do you throw the best Independence Day party?
Never fear – here at Gametruck Charlotte, we’ve made a quick guide to help you host a Fourth of July party the neighbors will be talking about for the rest of the year!
Food
You say party; we say FOOD!
Food is the guest of honor at almost any party, and you’ll be pleased to hear that the Fourth of July doesn’t require any fancy meals. Your guests will be more than happy with the traditional barbeque featuring hot-dogs and burgers. If you’re adventurous and want to add a little twist to the favorites, check this recipe out for a fun take on the classic hot-dog or explore vegetarian and vegan alternatives!
Another way to make sure guests don’t run out of yummy treats during the party is to ask guests to bring snack foods and desserts. It’s a great way to strike up a friendship with a neighbor you just haven’t gotten the chance to talk to (while saving a bit of money as well).
Decorations
What’s a party without some decorations?
The decorations are what sets the tone of the party, and they’re the first thing guests will notice when they arrive. So it’s important to stay on theme, but also keep things simple. Visit your local dollar store for affordable decorations – anything works as long as it’s red, white, blue, or sparkly!
And here’s a pro tip: white plastic cutlery and paper plates and napkins tend to cost less than blue or red ones. Your wallet will thank you, I promise.
Entertainment
Now the million dollar question: how do you keep everyone entertained until the fireworks start?
It’s not as hard as it looks! Set aside an area in the yard for some outdoor sports and games, like volleyball, frisbee, and bean bag tossing. If you want to keep guests of all ages happy, book GameTruck Charlotte and guarantee that everyone has so much fun, they won’t even notice the time passing!
No matter what you do, remember to stay safe by providing sunscreen and insect repellent, and by keeping an eye on adults that are drinking. The important thing is that everyone’s going to have a blast just by spending time together.

What Video Games Are Coming Out in 2018?
It is any gamers dream when the long-awaited video game of the year finally hits the market. The experience of logging on to your device and seeing the games opening credits for the first time is such a thrill. 2017 was an excellent year for video games, so 2018 is going to have to step up its game to beat last year’s stellar selection. Luckily, your gaming experts at Game Truck San Jose have provided you with the ultimate list of video games coming out in 2018.
Spider-Man (PS4)
Due to be released later this year in September is Spider-Man! This open-world adventure game is packed with action as you scale the streets of Manhattan fighting crime. You can also switch up characters and play Mary Jane as she works as an investigative reporter. With this game rental, you get the best of both worlds.
Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4, Xbox One)
Though the release date is still to be determined, this game is created as the prequel of Red Dead Redemption, originally released in 2010. Little to nothing has been released about this game other than the fact that you will be playing as a member of the Van der Linde Gang. The suspense is chilling.
The Last of Us 2 (PS4)
This game takes place in a world doomed by a zombie takeover due to a fungal infection outbreak. This second game of the series is left to the imagination without a release date. All the director Neil Druckmann can say is, “This story is about hate.”
Crackdown 3 (PC, Xbox One)
The third installment in this series promises the same futurist approach to crime fighting as the previous two. Crackdown 3 assures the original aspects of the past games, but offers more environments to patrol through with even bigger super abilities. The release date is still a mystery.
Metro Exodus (PS4, Xbox One, PC)
This post-apocalyptic gaming series was previously located in the subways of Moscow, but will now be expanded into the snowy streets of the town. Mutants are roaming the street and a gas mask is a must for survival. The 2018 release date is still up in the air.
State of Decay 2 (PC, Xbox One)
The first game in this series was released in early 2013 and although it was rough around the edges, it was deemed different from other zombie games. Rather than the typical shoot and kill scenario, this game focused on community engagement. If your character were to die, another member of the community will take your place. The second installment is yet to have a release date and is said to be expanded into a four-player co-op.

5 of the Most Patriotic Video Game Characters
As summer comes into full swing and festivals open up, we approach the most revered summer holiday in America – Independence Day. On the 4th of July, we come together to celebrate everything that makes The United States of America a great and mighty nation. This patriotic feeling is not only shared amongst our citizens but also is an integral part of our culture from movies and books to video games. Gamers: get ready to begin your gaming this summer with the most patriotic video game characters!
Captain America: Marvel vs Capcom
What can be said to be the most well-known icon of American patriotism? Captain America has been around fighting for freedom and against tyranny for over 77 years. With the last decade of Marvel movies, he has only grown more popular and well known to an entirely new generation of kids. Leading the cause of the red, white, and blue against the foes of freedom, he makes any patriot on the 4th of July proud. Captain America embodies every image of American patriotism that we’ve come to know and respect.
McCree: Overwatch
The wild west gunslinger is a prominent fixture of American symbols. Few other video game characters fit the role like McCree from Overwatch. Decked out in a cowboy hat, poncho, boots, his peacekeeper revolver, and his gruff voice, he’s the model American cowboy we’ve all come to know and admire. With his signature revolver, he backs up his allies in fights and takes down those who oppose his cause. Now on the path of retribution for his past, he seeks to make amends and find the righteous cause of any true patriot.
Guile: Street Fighter
As a staple of fighting video games for almost 30 years, Guile from Street Fighter was the game’s answer to the American patriot. Sporting an American flag tattoo on his bicep, Guile, a Major in the United States Air Force, enters the World Warrior tournament to avenge the death of his friend Charlie.
Jax: Mortal Kombat
Another well-known and long-lived patriotic character in fighting video games, Major Jackson Briggs, or Jax from Mortal Kombat is everything you’d expect from an American patriot. He’s first introduced in the Mortal Kombat series working for Special Forces looking for his partner, Sonya Blade, who was after Kano. After succeeding, he then stays on to defeat and save the Earth from the evil villain Shao Kahn. Typically seen wearing the American flag, he loves his country and fights for its ideals and freedom.
Liberty Prime: Fallout
Without argument, the most patriotic video game character would have to go to Liberty Prime from Fallout 3 and 4. Initially designed before the events of the game, Liberty Prime is a 40-foot robot meant to combat Communists with impunity. Built with weapons such as mounted laser cannons and what seems to be an inexhaustible supply of miniature nukes, Liberty Prime is a force not to be taken lightly. Liberty Prime makes sure you know it too with such lines blasted out such as “Democracy is the essence of good. Communism, the very definition of evil.” and “I am Liberty Prime. I am… America.”While Liberty Prime may not know the true essence of patriotism, the robot personifies a heavy-handed idealistic form of patriotism.
